Many of you will soon be applying through the UCAS process to universities. To ensure you gain maximum benefit from being an EES student make sure you refer to your EES participation on your personal statement. Also remember to include information of any other awards or accreditation you have gained as a result of your successful project eg a CREST Gold Award, Contribution to the Duke of Edinburgh Award and ASDAN accreditation if applicable.
Certain EES universities offer EES students special consideration on application, all details about such universities will soon be available on the website www.thescheme.org.uk but examples of the benefits currently on offer are:
Academic Year 2009/10 Entry to the University of Plymouth Engineering Education Scheme in England & Scotland Entrance Scholarship.
These scholarships of £500 per annum for 2 years will be awarded automatically to ALL new UK/EU stage 1 students enrolling on any of the Faculty of Technology’s courses in September 2009 provided that they:
1. have successfully completed the EES.
2. have at least 260 UCAS points obtained from 3 relevant A-levels, or the equivalent, when they enrol.
3. are not already receiving a Faculty of Technology Entrance Scholarship.
There is NO application form to complete. Usually the award is paid in 2 instalments, one towards the end of term 1 and the second in term 2. The award will be made every year for 2 years provided the normal progression requirements are met.
Academic Year 2009/10 Entry to the University of Kent (Canterbury) Students who have successfully completed the Engineering Education Scheme in England & Scotland are able to claim 30 UCAS Tariff Points towards a conditional offer made by the Department of Electronics at the University of Kent. Students should indicate clearly on their UCAS application form that they have successfully completed the EES by listing the scheme under the ‘Qualifications Completed’ section. Academic Year 2009/10 Entry to the University of Brighton Students who have received validation tariff credit notes from the University of Brighton as a result of participation in 2007/08 have already achieved 10 credits towards their first year undergraduate module point course requirements should they choose to study engineering at Brighton.
